So I’m 11 weeks pregnant and about 4 days ago my regular congestion I’ve been experiencing escalated into a sore throat and then into a full blown cold. I went through two boxes of tissues in one day. I have a family friend who is a GP and I asked what I could take and they said they just recommend using Vick’s rub and hydrating. I did that for the first day but by day two I hadn’t slept the past two nights and my head was throbbing so I broke down and looked up my medication list my OB gave me and took half of the recommended dosage of Tylenol and Benedryl. I took another Tylenol today to deal with my chest pain from coughing but I decided to do more research and found I shouldn’t have taken anything prior to week 12, and that the medicine I took could lead birth defects. I feel like a horrible mom and selfish. Has anyone else taken medicine early in their pregnancy? Has it been okay? I’ve only take 1000mg of Tylenol and 50mg of Benedryl in the past 48 hours. I’m a first time mom and I keep feeling like I’m doing things wrong. 😓
