We live in the same town as my mom. When I told her I was pregnant with my second, I called her and asked, “How would you feel about sharing the bed with another J—(our last name) child?” Our son sleeps in between them when he stays the night with them. Needless to say, she was beyond excited! 
So maybe think of something she likes doing with your children and use that as a segue into your announcement? Then you can either call her or compose a cute picture to text to her.

NO , I don't not live with my mom if that's what you're thinking , & No she doesn't support my kids. I havent talked to my mother in 3 years our last meeting turned into a physical altercation and we butt heads bad. However... I waited until I was 13 weeks (I am currently 15 weeks exact tomorrow) to tell her and shockingly she is actually excited about it. I waited until I was in my second trimester and had seen baby was doing well. I messaged her via her Facebook with a cute little announcement.

depends on the relationship,  i was so excited i told her in person the first chance i got. told her it was twins via video chat.  i would never text that to her, friends maybe but not parents.
