Would you rather-work and breaks

Would you rather work 10 hours a day and have a 1 hour break where you can actually leave work, or work a 7 hour day with a 30 minute break where you can’t actually leave work? To make it easier, let’s say both jobs get paid the same amount and have the same amount of work stuff to do outside of work hours

I think my deciding factor would actually be more of how many days I work. If I had 10 hour days, with a long break but worked 4 days a week, I'd totally pick that. Otherwise I'd stick with the short break if only because I don't do anything on my break.

Leaving early isn’t an option, I wish it was. I wouldn’t be taking a break at all and I’d be leaving an hour early 😂

Why wouldn’t you be able to leave work for the half an hour one? That’s the only thing stopping from picking that one

Hmm that’s a good point. I just never have time in the morning to make my own food / go to the shop / basically do anything so I like getting food on my breaks.

I’m able to eat lunch with my SO, run errands if I need to, etc. BUT she also is free from 3pm on, whereas I don’t even get home from work until around 7:30 due to traffic

It is. It’s the only part of the whole ordeal that I think I have the better option (I work longer days)

I picked 7 hour day with short break, because I work 9 hours a day with a 45 minute break, which I spend at my desk anyway. I prefer just staying where I am rather than heading out then having to go back anyway

I can’t edit it, so I’ll just add it in The 10 hours is INCLUDING the hour break, it’s a paid break. So work from 8 am-6pm

Shorter. Let's get it over with. One hour isn't enough to really do anything for me anyways

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with your real life BUT-If your 30 minute break is unpaid/off the clock, you ARE allowed to leave. The only breaks you must stay for are paid/on the clock.

You can’t get anything done in an hour. If you have to get out of the building, get to your car, get where you’re going, do it, come back and there’s your hour. It’s not enough time to schedule a doctor’s appointment etc. I would do the seven hour day and make my days off during the week so I can get things done.

I assumed it just meant like leave the actual work building to get lunch or something, not actually go all the way home

I’d say longer day because I’d assume this is based off of a 40-hour work week, which would allow me to work fewer days.

Both jobs are Monday-Friday

I already work 4 10s. I get two 15 minute breaks and an hour lunch. I'd rather have shorter days.

Half hour breaks have always been enough for me. You can eat and go for a little walk in that time. Whenever I've had an hour I end up sat around waiting for the time to pass.
