Has anyone had their IUD removed for reasons other than wanting to get pregnant?

I have PCOS and have had an IUD. For two years. At first I thought that not having a period was great, but now I'm worried that my body isn't going to ever support a pregnancy. I'm not actively trying to get pregnant, but would like to have the option someday. I want to get the IUD removed for this reason.

I also have gained a lot of weight on birth control ever since I was in high school (back then was on the pill). I've never been able to lose weight and am concerned it's hormone related.

I'd love to know if anyone has experienced a return to normal menses and/or weight after removal of IUD.
