Boyfriend makes me feel ugly, fat, and insecure

We met on tinder.

We’ve been together for almost a year. When we first started dating, he told me that I was the biggest (fattest) he would date. When we first matched on tinder, he said he showed his friends and they all said I was chubby because I didn’t have any body pictures. After meeting and hanging for a while, he told me they were right.

I have lost about 30lbs since then. I’m still chubby but not as chubby as I was before. We’ve had a lot of issues regarding cheating, porn, etc. which have also affected the way I feel about myself.

I am an ethnicity that usually has darker armpits and inner thighs...his mom has that too (we’re the same ethnicity) and he used to make jokes about it, which made me feel insecure. I have a really gummy smile, and he used to make fun of that, too, until I told him that was one of my insecurities. I have discoloration around the corners of my mouth due to the condition of my armpits and inner thighs, as well as an acid burn.

He treats me well, for the most part, but my goodness he has really put me through some shit. We are in the process of him regaining my trust...honestly, I’m not even sure I should be here. He’s trying. But it took him almost a year to try, and this whole time we’ve been together, all he does is make me feel physically inadequate.

I love him but I keep having doubts. Part of me wants to leave him but another part of me wants to wait it out to see a happy ending. Right now, I am trying to lose weight...but I’m afraid it’ll be like before; an eating disorder, just trying to please a partner because he made me feel like I wasn’t good enough. I didnt eat when I was with my ex. And the fucked up thing is that my current boyfriend and ex aren’t the most attractive people, nor are they nearly my “type”, but never have I once shit on their appearances.

Slap some sense into me please. I hate that the one person that is supposed to make me feel beautiful makes me feel like I’m a pile of garbage in the street.
