New work option

Kiki

Hey all. I am posting this to hear perspective. I am worried about taking a new job in China. I lived there before and have desperately wanted to go back. I found two jobs to choose from and sided with one. the process to get there is tedious because of visa regulations, so that adds to the stress. anyways, a clause in the contract discusses how I can leave, ie by giving three months notice. by law in China, it is one month for an employee to leave, but I accept this as the employer gets a return on investment for their hiring me. before signing the contract, I asked a series of questions, and had several more, but their contact was not able to answer easily. I asked my last question about this subject, and then heard nothing for a few hours. another HR rep messaged me saying how the school does not want to hire someone who is not committed and it concerns them very much that I asked this question.

I'm very upset to think that they do not trust me over me asking this one of several questions. I really want to get back to China, and this is one of the better-paying offers I have. but, dealing amwith a culture in a workplace of mistrust and not being respected for my rights as an employee is very scary and unnerving for me. I tell myself they have a right to be this way and act this way because of their investment, but I still hate it. it's like I have to be my own advocate and lawyer, but am reprimanded for doing so. what do you think?
