humidifier vs dehumidifier?

so im a ftm & im due in 2 weeks, my room is in a fully done basement but i use the word basement lightly bc its more just like the bottom floor not gross like a basement. so i live in rhode island & i was wondering what type of humidifier i should get? or how to tell if i need one? we rent here and it came with a dehumidifier which makes me think it gets humid in summer, but i get a dry throat alot of the mornings so i think winter has made it super dry . i just dont want my baby geting that affect too, and i heard vicks humidifiers arent reccommended for babies , any one have any i sight?
