Breastfeeding and formula feeding ??

Ladies, my husband wants to use formula as well. He says that way it will be easy at night for feeding. when he gets up with the baby.so he doesn’t have to wake me up.but I’m not sure how to go about it . I told him I can always pump.

I agree with these comments about possibly decreasing your supply so you’ll have to get up and pump or feed either way. But honestly it’s so much easier to breastfeed at night instead of making a bottle or pumping. All you have to do is whip out the boob vs having to get up and make a bottle. You can even feed while laying down. 
If your husband wants to help ask him to burp baby and change diaper when you’re done. That way he’s able to help and feels included.

Once baby starts sleeping through the night I have never gotten up and pumped. And my supply has never had an issue. Pump before you go to bed and let him feed the baby that if he wants. But chances are you will both be awake anyway. So I’d  just go with the boob. Hubby will be ok.

Personally that was the begining of the downfall to me breastfeeding my toddler.  You are still going to have to at minimum get up to pump anyway so why not give baby pumped milk.  Don't stand down if it is something you want.

Even if you don't get up to feed your baby at night, you would still need to get up to pump so as to maintain your supply so if you don't see any nutritional benefits or you just plain don't want to offer formula, don't.

Your supply will dramatically decrease if you don’t at least pump also at night. I personally hate to pump and would rather just breastfeed at night. It’s the most magically sleepy time of your life. Lol

I’ve never understood how anyone could think formula is easier at night. I babysat my young godsons that were formula fed overnight. It was terrible!! So much harder than nursing. He can help change diapers if he wants to help at night. No reason to disrupt feeding and possibly impact your supply for that.

My hubby gives one formula bottle every evening so I can have a break from baby being attached to my boob and I can shower or whatever. If it falls at a time I need to feed then I pump and freeze it but if not then I don’t bother. When my baby sleeps through the night (probably 3-5 days per week) I don’t get up and pump and haven’t had any supply issues. I also had a supply issue until about 2 months old (baby is now 3.5 months) and I was in the max dose of domperidone until he was 2 months and then weaned off of it by 2.5 months.  I also had a scope done a couple weeks ago and had to pump and dump for 24 hours and didn’t have enough frozen milk for the 24 hour period so he had extra formula bottle and was fine. As long as you are breast feeding through the day I’d think you’d be fine (based on my experience). Good luck!
