Interesting story about decreased movement!
Alright ladies, obviously call your doctor if you’re nervous about a decrease in movement. But something interesting happened to me today after going to the hospital for a decrease in movement.
For the past 6 weeks my daughter’s booty has been up above my belly button, her back on my left side, and her head facing down. If I felt her feet when she kicked, I always felt them on my right side.
Last night for the first time ever, I felt a foot on my left side. I pushed near my belly button and could still feet her butt, but my left side didn’t feel as firm as usual. Since last night I experienced a significant decrease in fetal movement. Like 70-80% less than her normal movement and no juice or water or lying down was making her move.
Went to the hospital a few hours ago and she looked great on the monitor. The nurse asked me “Can you feel that? Do you feel her moving?” And I said “No, I can’t feel anything.” She was definitely moving. The nurse examined my stomach and said her butt was pretty far down and her back wasn’t on my left side anymore, she had switched to the right side. The nurse said that placenta doesn’t have any nerves in it so if your baby kicks or punches your placenta, you would never feel it or know it. She also said that babies will switch sides right before labor because they like to choose the path of least resistance.
Basically, it was very obvious that my daughter had dropped and that she had switched sides and because she switched her position, all of her movement is aimed at my placenta so I can’t feel her nearly as much. So if you’re ever stressing about a decrease in movement but noticed that your baby has switched sides or notice that you feel kicks on different sides, you could be experiencing what I just experienced!
