Growth scan?

I’m having one on Wednesday due to baby measuring 3 weeks behind at 37 weeks.  I’m not worried since my first was behind too and perfectly healthy.  But never had a growth scan before.  What should I expect?  Should my husband take off to come?

It’s like a short anatomy scan. They measure the head, arm, leg, and abdomen sizes and somehow that all averages out to give an estimated weight. If your husband can come, I’d say he should. Due to high risk I get monthly growth scans and my husband loves seeing the babies in there since they take their time measuring, but you do usually get some cute pictures too to bring home so he’d still get to see the babies if he didn’t come.

They will just measure the different parts of the baby. Liked the arms and legs. The head and so on.  It’s not a situation where your husband needs to take off but that’s something you have to decide if you want him there for. For me my SO wanted to be at every scan I had and I wanted him to be there so he always took off or left work early to come. So it’s totally up to you.

It’s a shorter version of the anatomy scan basically. They measure a few parts of the baby to get an estimated weight, check the blood flow from placenta to baby, see if baby is head down, check your cervix length..all that good stuff.

having one wednesday (31 weeks) due to not gaining but 4lbs since 14w 😅 but my doc said it’s like a normal ultrasound and they’ll measure her using the machine and get a weight and make sure she’s measuring up to where she should be

It's just like a regular ultrasound. You'll get to see baby and get a few pictures and my tech let me know right away that my baby girl was measuring big.
