Play yard/pen?

Question

We have a one floor condo, good space but it’s not filled with baby stuff yet. Our family (literally everyone in immediate and extended) love no father than 10 minutes away. We don’t sleep at peoples’ homes, it’s uncomfortable and invasive to us. 
Do we need a playpen? (Tap pic to see the panorama)

Like a pack and play? You’ll want that when the baby is older so you can put him/her down in a safe space while you go to the bathroom or make some food.

I think so, definitely. The safest place for your baby to be while you go to the bathroom or wash dishes is in the playpen (other than a swing or stationary walker). Last thing you need is to hear a loud bang then baby crying while you're putting away laundry or cooking dinner. Especially once baby starts moving around!

Now that my daughter is rolling and crawling she has no interest in her jumperoo or anything that restricts her. I pop her in the pack n play with toys when I shower or need to get something done. I don't like to keep her in there for too long at a time but it's definitely very handy!

regalo playard.  Its  easier to set up and put away when not in use (sometimes u dont want it to look like a babies domain) I have an area  rug under mine.  Baby has enough room to roll around and play. when she's tired she will fall asleep.  I just put my pack and play in the garage.

Honestly? If their room isnt far away where they would nap I would get one of these for when they are bigger. My son hated “playing” in his pack and play bc he was used to napping in it. Keeping toys away from sleeping spaces also helps good sleep habits. 
We eventually ditched the gated area (same as pic but we got the white one) and just baby proofed our living room, kitchen and foyer. My son just prefers to follow me everywhere.

We got one we will be using as a bassinet in our room the first 2 months but definitely will come in handy when your baby start to crawl and get into stuff I put my kids in it while I took my shower are during cleaning

I’d say no. I have a one story house and we only used the pack and play at home for a couple weeks. After that, baby was in her crib. Our room is right across the hall, so it’s never been an issue. Now we only use it for traveling.

We have a 8 panel playpen and love it.  It keeps her contained so I can do things like clean, cook, etc. without having to worry about her.

With my first we only used it at my moms since she kept my daughter while I worked. Then we bought a house and used it a little for her here while we worked on the house late at night before actually moving in. If I didn’t need it for my mom to have at her house I wouldn’t have worried about getting one. We lived in a small space when we first had her so I could see her pretty much at all times and we just baby proofed everything. With this one I plan on using it more since we have a big house now so I have some place to lay baby and not have to worry as much about big sister climbing all around him/her.

I have a pack n play already as they come in handy, and plan to get a larger play yard because i will be working from home and will need a safe place for kiddo to play in view. I think you have the room for it and should get one or the other, at least! They are great tk give your kiddo boundaries and a safe place to play
