Delayed Cord Clamping?

Question

Anyone plan on delayed cord clamping or anyone with experience about it? I recently came across it and plan to discuss it with my dr at next appointment. If you don’t know what it is I think it’s definitely worth the research for our Littles.

I did with my first because I wanted to and because our hospital has a delayed cord clamping policy. It was a great experience. As soon as he came out, he was placed immediately in my arms. Those first minutes are priceless and precious, I didn’t want to spend them rushing him from person to person. My husband cut the cord once it stopped pumping which was about 10 minutes after. I highly recommend it and will be doing it for this baby.

My doctor does it, and she does skin to skin as long I want.

Did it with my first and delayed bath time. He never lost weight in the hospital and we successfully breastfed exclusively 2 years while I worked full time. 
I think all the "vanity" (like the rub down or bath) and unnatural interventions ( like cutting the cord early or taking baby away from mom for any reason) you can cut out in the beginning is worthwhile.

My doctor does it always unless there is concern for the baby. delayed cord clamping is healthy for the baby. waiting to cut the cord has stop pulsating is what I was taught in school. after that there is no benefit to baby

A lot of hospitals do this as a standard practice now. Usually around a minute or so. There isn’t a TON of research showing giant benefits to delaying clamping in full term babies in industrialized countries, but there are some, and even if it doesn’t end up doing a ton, a couple minutes won’t hurt. But extremely delaying it, like a lotus birth or something, is much riskier, so definitely not gonna be doing anything like that.

I didn’t with my son, I HATED the feeling of the umbilical cord hanging out of me so I asked them to cut it because it was so uncomfortable.

I'm going to ask my OB to do This! With my daughter I wanted it done but the cord was wrapped around her neck so they cut it immediately to get her untangled. Which I'm obviously glad they did that, but I wish we could have gotten the delayed clamping benefits!
