Is it normal my baby is a non cuddler?

My DD is almost 9 months. She loves to play with her toys and explore around the house. She is content for long periods of time entertaining herself, she occasionally glances back towards me with a big smile to make sure I’m still watching. 
She likes to be held but not cuddled. It’s very bizarre. 
When she gets hurt she cries “mamamama!” But if I try to cuddle her and console her she pushes my face away and squirms out of my arms. 
When she’s drinking her bottle she doesn’t look at me in the eyes for long. She steals glances but usually she’s trying to touch my face, pull my hair, etc. 
she’s very playful always laughing baby. 
It just hurts my feelings because sometimes I feel like she doesn’t need me. I really want her to cuddle sometimes but she won’t. 
Has anyone else gone through this?

You just described my daughter to almost a “T”! She is 8 1/2 months and she would much rather case the dog than sit on my lap for half a second. Although she will occasionally cuddle her father and Grandma if they’re standing and I might get a little after she wakes up in the morning.

My son is 8 months old and does the same thing. He hates fo cuddle. He doesn’t even like it at bedtime. He’s all over the place when I’m trying to feed him. He tries to sit and play with his feet. When I hold him heaven for bid I try to put his head on my shoulder and give him a little squeeze. He pushed off my and pulls his knees up ha. And at bedtime he eats (while giving a hard time because he wants to move all over the place) and wants to be out right down in his crib. And if he’s not trying to wiggle out of my arms when I’m feeding him he is smacking me in the face and pulling my hair.

My baby girl isn' much of a cuddled right now, either. Shes much more interested in moving around and exploring! But I expect that at some point she'll probably grow out of it.

Mmmm yes, sorry, some babies are like that. My son is 8 months & he hates kisses, cuddles. My daughter is 5 Years old & she hates that too lol so yeah it’s normal.

my son hates to be kissed by be pulls his face away as soon as I go in for a kiss. loves kisses off his daddy and would kiss him all day. but he won't cuddle his dad will only play with him! he cuddles me all day! it's just their personalitys coming to life! :)

My daughter is the same and always has been. It makes me sad sometimes but I know she does need me in other ways.
I remember asking the pediatrician about it and she just said some babies are just like that, nothing to worry about.

Yep! My LO is the same way. My first was a major cuddler, this baby I get hugs once in a while if I ask and only before bedtime is when she’ll actually sit and lay her head on me. Otherwise, she’s doing her own thing. Trust me she needs you and loves you, don’t fret it. My nephew was the same but now at 3 he loves cuddles.

My 8 month old is exactly the same! Even when he was super tiny he didn’t want to be.
