Contractions?!?

As a first time mom I feel a bit confused as to what true contractions genuinely feel like..I think I have been able to distinguish what Braxton Hicks contractions feel like due to the random tightening I get at the top of my baby bump, but as far as true contractions I’m not sure. There’s days where I get an immensely sharp pain in my pubic bone that radiates through my vagina, most noticeable when I’m walking, and then there’s days where I get mild cramps in my lower belly most noticeable when I lay in bed and relax. I was always told I would “just know” when I was having contractions which makes it even harder for me to figure out what they feel like because I feel as though I’m not connected with my body like most women are during pregnancy. Does anyone have any insight as to what true contractions feel like that could kindly explain to me what they felt when they were experiencing them? I’m just about 36 weeks pregnant so I know they won’t be as frequent as labor contractions but I am just curious so I can be prepared for when they do come.

TIA 🤗

They are like a period cramp, but worse, and they continuously get worse if you’re in true labor. Mine wrapped around to my back. They’re rhythmic in that they come and go. I had a week of practice contractions, but when I woke up in labor, I instantly knew they were the real deal. You really will know.

Mine started out like period cramps that would come and go. It stayed that was for several hours and then gradually gained in intensity and finally became actually painful.

I know everyone says this but you will know when they are real contractions, there is no mistaking them. It’s a tightening and severe radiating pain throughout the belly back and even thighs sometimes. They suck haha

Yes...this! It starts out like period cramps but then they get super intense where you cant talk through them and it hurts all through your back and stuff. It is not just uncomfortable or sore, its painful. Its nothing like Braxton Hicks
