What’s the difference between the mini pill and the contraceptive pill? Is one better than the other because I’m on the mini pill so is my chance higher of getting pregnant than if I were on the contraceptive pill?

mini pill is a type of contraceptive pill. mini pill is progesterone only and has 4 weeks of active pills no set period week which means you can get your period any week. it's for women who are breast feeding, have a history of blood clots or migraines with aura. this is because estrogen can cause blood clots for people with a history of these problems. I have migraines with aura so can't take combo pills because they have estrogen, along with progesterone. mini pills are 99.5% effective when used perfectly as good as female sterilization, combo pills are 99.9% effective when taken perfectly as effective as male sterilization. both pills fall to 95% when used typically. mini pills need to be taken within 3 hours of the normal time you take them otherwise it's a missed pill where combo pills can be taken up to 12 hours late. most doctor's prescribe combo pills unless you have a medical reason as to why you can't take estrogen
