Crib/bassinet/pack n play?

Question

What should baby sleep in the first few weeks/months? I was planning on buying a crib regardless but for sleeping in the same room I wanted to get something smaller like a bassinet. I’m also going to get a pack n play but was going to leave that in the living room for daytime naps/changes.  Any ideas or suggestions on what I should buy? Thank you

We got a crib for the nursery and we also just had the pack and play in the living room with the changing table so I didn’t have to run up and down the stairs during the day. We had a bassinet we usually kept in our room but sometimes bring down to the kitchen or when we hang out in the family room in the basement so he could be close to us. All three were put to great use because we had the space and we got a bassinet that had a vibrator in it so sometimes we would turn it on if he was having trouble sleeping and it also rocked

We used a pack n play for the first 6 months. We kept it next to our side of the bed. We then transitioned her to her crib in her nursery at 6 months. When we made that transition, we moved the pack n play to the living room, but it's just to give her a safe space to be when I'm cleaning or something. All naps are done upstairs in her nursery. We never saw the point in a bassinet simply because they don't tend to last long. And our daughter would have outgrown it by 4 months so I'm glad we didn't spent the money on one.

I loooove my Halo bassinest. I bought it used for $140 from someone who used it once. I love being able to co-sleep safely. Also, the music and vibration features have been a life saver. I don't use them all the time because I don't want him to be dependant on it, but if I really need sleep and he's fussy, I'll put on the music. If that doesn't work, I use the vibration and it knocks him out within seconds. I had a 2nd degree tear and tore forwards and I can't imagine having to get in and out of bed at night. It would have been so painful. I am so thankful I purchased this.

Our Baby Trend pack-n-play came with removable bassinets. We used them until about 3mon, then transitioned to the bedding in the PNP, and then the crib at about 5.5mons.

We were originally going to just put the crib up in our room (we only have a 2 bd and aren’t upsizing for one more year) so that’s where she’s going to be as they both won’t fit in my sons room.... but we were gifted a bassinet and pack n play, so for now the bassinet is set up in our room and the pack n play is in the living room (for changes and naps, it has the changing table attachment) some people worry about letting baby nap in areas of the house you will be doing things as they think it might interrupt baby’s sleep..... but personally I want my child to be able to sleep anywhere around noise or not so that’s how we will do it. My son was a nicu baby and as a baby I could vacuum under his swing as he napped and it wouldn’t bother him.... I also had a cousin with a baby that the entire house had to be pen drop silent or the baby wouldn’t sleep and I’m not trying to deal with that.
