is this weird of my mom to do

so I started my period for the first time. Im 14 and it just randomlly started when I was on the toilet. I called my mom from the other room because we had a box of pads in the garage for when I started. she went and grabbed them for me and when she came in gave me a short little talk on how to use them and squatted down infront of me and said "aw I'tll be ok, here let me see" and was wanting me to show her my vagina I guess. it was super uncomfortable so I told her no and she got really pissed off. she's being really weird now, should I have? I wasn't trying to be mean is that what most girls do?
