Tips for eating safely overseas..

Hiya all,
So we found out we are expecting #1 about two weeks ago (so excited) DH and I are both Aussie but we've just moved to Indonesia for a two year stint with his work (just 3weeks ago!). I have had a few complications with this pregnancy already, a nasty virus and very light bleeding for the last week or so, which is still ongoing.
The good news is that despite everything it's seems our little 'baby chino' is still hanging in there and my hcg is fine.
I wanted to write this post because I am finding it increasingly difficult to find food in Indonesia that I'm confident has been safely stored and/or prepared and is also not on the no no list for pregnancy. For instance, today I ordered a sandwich from an upmarket French bistro, which was described as; 'beef, tomato, red onion and capsicum', but it came out smothered in Mayo and due to the language barrier, it's difficult to check the brand or work out if it is ok! I am also worried about ordering juices or eating cut fruit or raw salad or veges that I have not bought or prepared myself, which limits the variety of fresh food I can eat.
Does anyone have tips for living abroad and eating safely? I'm worried I'm not getting the nutrients I need, even with a pregnancy multi.. Would appreciate any tips or thoughts.. Sorry for the essay! #anxiouscrazylady;)
