Periods & the Moon?

I've always heard women and the moon have a special connection, and there used to be some sort of.. I guess stigma around your period being synced with the moon. I think. I haven't read a lot about it bc I haven't found much.

well, my entire life I have been irregular until about 28. when I turned 30, I was still technically regular but now, at 32, I'm noticing any time my period has popped up randomly since 30 it has been during a full moon. And when they've been especially bad, we have had a super moon.

Now I'm not sure if this is coincidence or if there really is some sort of connection, but I thought I'd start here and ask if anyone else has ever heard of this or maybe come across anything like that?
