Moving in Before or After Marriage?

Ladies I’d like your option, is it best to move in with your SO before marriage or after. In my group chat, half of my friends say it’s best to do it before you get married so you can really know what and who you’re dealing with. But the other half say it’s like playing “pretend house” and not willing to commit fully. What do you guys think?

You need to know if you're actually compatible roommates before you get married.  It's like that bullshit about not having sex until you're married.  Because what if you wait and then after marriage find out you're not actually compatible?  Now you have a whole divorce to go through over something that could've been dealt with before.

I say after, but I will give you I had a pretty conservative upbringing. I don’t think there’s inherently wrong with living together before you’re married, but I think when you run into issues, it’s easier to bail out instead of work it out if you’re not married. I honestly think there’s only so much truth in that in modern relationships, as marriage seems to be increasingly less important (and perhaps more disposable, though that’s an observation, not a judgement on whether it’s right or wrong), and if you have a good relationship, it probably wouldn’t ultimately matter that much.

there is no such thing as pretend house in my opinion. I think it's better to try amd live with someone so that way you both know what your getting into

I kind of lucked out here...My hubby and I had a long distance relationship, and we're both from conservative backgrounds, so we stayed with each other's families for every visit. Basically we lived in the same house for a week at a time, every couple of weeks or so, our entire dating relationship, and he had his own house too, so we went over there and hung out sometimes too- he had two bachelor's living with him so we weren't there alone very much. Anyway, we got to know a LOT about our personal habits that way, without compromising our agreement to save sex for marriage. No regrets. Best of both worlds, least convenience, more assurance of commitment in marriage. In my opinion, you know if your sexually compatible. You just do. And nobody is amazing at sex the first time! But that's what marriage is for - years to practice, without the baggage of having been with other people. I have no other man to compare my man with, but I have been *blessed*😁. To be honest though, we really *talked* about everything before we married...including our expectations/questions about sex. I even felt him through his clothes because he asked me to, to see if I thought he was big enough...Lol how a fella his size could be insecure, idk.😂😍

Living together causes some hardships you wouldn’t expect. Moving in before marriage is better in my opinion because you’re able to go through those obstacles and really get to know your partner. But then again, you might get stuck never getting married because they’re now comfortable with just being with you

I moved in with my husband before we married, and I am extremely glad I did. He had a lot of really terrible habits and I would have lost my mind if I had found out about it after we got married. We had plenty of time to get used to each other and hash out a better co-living routine before the stress of marriage. Definitely recommend moving in together before.

I vote before. you never really know someone until you live with them and that can lead to annoyances and sometimes arguments, but you adjust and become a stronger couple for it. my husband and I lived together for 3 years before getting married and I'm glad we did because we are past that awkward spot and it's peaceful and wonderful lol.

Nothing is worse than making a supposedly lifetime commitment and then moving in with someone and finding out they're intolerable. You don't really know someone until you've lived with them.
