If you had an epidural, how many of you came home and got a UTI?

I'm wondering after I give birth this time if I should just go ahead and ask for the UTI meds. Last time was absolutely awful, I cried every time I peed...

I assume the UTI was related to the cathider not the actual epidural. But no I wouldn't ask for meds you may not need especially if you plan on breastfeeding. You want to keep your gut as healthy as possible and not take unnecessary antibiotics especially during that time. I also don't know what doctor would perscribe them unless you actually get another UTI.

Epidural doesn’t cause an UTI.... 
And if you gave birth vaginally then the burning during urination is normal.

I had a lot of BV infections and UTIs with my last pregnancy and I did not get a UTI after birth. I’d say if they’re willing to prescribe you the antibiotics “just in case” then I would get them. Can’t hurt!

Having a catheter placed automatically increases chance of uti, but if everything is done exactly as it should be there shouldn't be infection. I would like to say off chance, but it's honestly fairly common with any catheter placement and postpartum stuff doesn't help. And you never want to leave a uti untreated (just a side PSA)
