How long is too long?🤔

So my boyfriend and I have been together 4 years now. How long is too long to wait for Engagement? I don't want to rush him...but I feel like I might be waiting for something that might not happen . Anyone ever waited longer than four years??

It all depends on how you feel. If you are tired of waiting for a commitment and really want to know if he’s serious about you and wants to marry you, you could do what my friend did. 5 years and she didn’t really have a serious commitment from the guy she was dating. They were living together and everything but he never really talked about committing or anything like that. So one day she just talked to him and basically said we’ve been together for 5 years.. are you ready to take the next step? Are you serious about me? Or are you just content with dating? Because if I’m wasting my time I want to know. They broke up because he wasn’t ready for a commitment more then dating.
Now she has a new man and they have a one year old little boy and their wedding is later this year.
If you want to know then just be straight with him.

I’m still waiting at about 4 years but it’s because we are saving money and have student loans and recently moved etc etc etc

I guess it depends. I was with one ex for over 6 years (from age 17-23) and definitely was too young (in my opinion) to think about marriage. However, after 2 years with my fiance I started getting impatient. We have been together just over 3 years and he proposed in Nov and getting married this Dec. But I was also 32 when he proposed and him 38, so time is ticking lol.. Have you guys talked about the prospect of marriage? Are you guys on the same page with what you want and expect in the future?

I waited 4 Years, married after 5. We discussed timing and marriage but were on the same page. Hope you don’t waste your time. Time flies especially those healthy years you want to be a mom.

I would try dropping SUBTLE hints. Like find a cute proposal video on youtube and show him and then have small talk like "I wonder how I'll be when you propose" or "I wonder when you will propose and surprise me!" That way you can see his reaction to you saying that and it may give you a clue if he really wants to eventually or not.

It took my husband 4 yrs to propose to me. He literally just woke me up one night out of the blue and asked me! Also I was 30 and he was 33 at the time so not super young.

I waited 8 years. I was ready to get married before he was, but I didn't want him to feel pressured. We ended up making a list of major life milestones and important conversations we felt we needed to have before we were on the same page and ready to get married. Life goals were things like finishing college, and at least one of us finding a stable job. Important conversations revolved around where we wanted to live, religion, future kids, and general life philosophies. When we reached the end of the list, we agreed that we were finally on the same page and he enthusiastically and romantically proposed. If you guy is the The One, he's worth waiting for. Talk to him, make your intentions known, and be open to listening to how he feels as well.
