Scheduling early delivery or no???

Question

So my doctor gave me the option the other day... I am due the 29th of April (a Sunday) and she said the earliest she would induce is the 23rd. Some background: I have a two year old (natural birth, scheduled for her due date but she decided to come that day all on her own!), my husbands work is flexible, and I have no desire to go past 40 weeks!   We have two birthdays on the 28th on my husbands side of the family already and I would like to avoid adding another if I can help it! (I know baby will come when baby wants to!) Also have a family birthday on May 1st... I guess what I’m asking is should I wait for baby to come on his own and risk going past due date (hospital won’t induce on a weekend) or should I go ahead and schedule an early induction date??? I feel kinda guilty about wanting to schedule early and am slightly/barely worried about induction vs natural labour... any advice? Thanks for reading/commenting!

Just wait for baby to come on its own. Trust me I know it sucks. My first was born on my mother in laws birthday I was less than pleased. Almost 4 years later now I could care less. I'm 40 weeks with my 3rd and her due date is the day before my 5 year anniversary. I super don't want her to come that day but I would adjust just fine. Babies health is way more important. There is always ways to make the date special to the baby weather it is shared or not.

Even within the medical community there is no consensus on what is best or safer. Some healthcare providers think that inducing during the 39th week is the best option for most pregnancies, others prefer to wait until at least the 42th week. There are arguments to support both sides but, assuming no known complications, absolute risks are small on both cases. I think that you can choose what you think to be best for you and your family.

I say do whatever feels best to you but after working labor and delivery I’m going to try to avoid being induced just because the pain and discomfort seem to be worse and also some do not progress and lead to c sections but then there are some who do fine! It’s truly what you and your doctor are comfortable with but I’m gonna let my little man dictate when he’s ready. I just want him to have as much time baking as possible!

Wait for baby to come on his/her own if possible! I had to be induced with first and it was awful, they don't let you get up and move as they have you connected to monitors and the induction meds create stronger contractions earlier than when in normal labor. Plus it increases your chance of c section. I went through 24 hours induction/labor and ended up with a c section

Honestly, do whatever you feel is best! I’m personally trying to avoid being induced, but that’s partly because it scares me after seeing how many of my friends ended up having to have a c-section after being induced, and I want to avoid that at all costs. She’ll be full term, and you could always push for a slightly later induction date if you really want that extra time.
