cervical position confusion

hello all, iv been trying long enough not to get my hopes up, so im going to ignore the could be pregnancy OR pms symtom things and go straight to what is boggling me. i (believe) i ovulated 7 days ago. a few days after ovulation my cervix started getting lower and harder, as i have recently read that it will always do regardless if you are pregnant or not. however today its been high and soft. like almost disappearing into the wall high and soft. now what iv read is that it will get high like that at some point if you are pregnant-but i havent been able to find if it is supposed to go back down before af comes or if it goes up thats it... normally, i have a soft cervix until a few days or so before period comes, and then it gets low and hard; and ththis is usually how i know im probably abt to get my period and not pg. and im still not due for my period. until the 20th so there is a lot of time for things to change-im just so caught off guard by this sudden extreme change in position. so i guess my question is-do women often have fluctuations in position before af or have any of you observed this happening and then it got hard and low again? i know il just have to keep checking and waiting but i would just like some insight on this so i can be more informed.
