Should i worry??

My 5 year old just started running fever and coughing out of no where and I'm worried about how it might effect myself and my unborn baby. I am 33 weeks and 1 day pregnant today. Normally when my son gets sick I always get sick a few days to a week later. Should I let my dr know?? Or should I just wait it all out?? Our baby shower is also in 6 days in a public play zone. Thanks for all advice!!!

There is a good chance you will get sick unfortunately. Obviously take all necessary precautions, but we as moms often can’t avoid these things. I wouldn’t take your child to a public play area until they are completely better, and if you are feeling under the weather, I wouldn’t go out either. Your doctor may be able to advise you on additional ways to avoid the sickness and things you can do once you become sick. It couldn’t hurt to bring it up with them and get their advice. So sorry :( hope you don’t catch it and he’s feeling better soon!

Update: Dr said that there is no worries as what he had was A- not the flu and B- already passing. Yay!!! Thanks for all your advice!!!!

Please take him in. it could be the flu. the vaccine is not working this year. the quicker you get him in the better. it litteraly comes down to hours. don't wait. he may be able to get tamiflu which will help a lot, and if it is the flu, the doctor will give you tamiflu also. I got the flu and thankfully went in asap and was able to take tamiflu

My son was sick 2 weeks ago and by some crazy miracle it missed me! I lysoled EVERYTHING, took showers every night before climbing into bed, washed his bedding often and had him with the same pillow/blanket and tried to wash my hands a ton! Keep taking your prenatals and hopefully it skips you too!

Take him to the E.R. in case it’s the flu. It’s been terrible this season.
