Can i do my prenatal care at one hosp & give birth at another?

I do not like the hospital i do my prenatal care at. Can i give birth at another hospital? Is it inconvenient to switch over last minute? I do not like the hospital i’m doing my prenatal care at and i think i made the wrong choice to make it the hospital i’m going to give birth at.

You need to call offices that deliver at the hospital that you want to deliver at.  You really need to deliver where your doctor office delivers at. That way they know your history and pregnancy and have your records readily available. It’s worth seeing if you can make a switch now but many offices don’t take transfers this far in the pregnancy unless you moved or changed insurances, etc.  still doesn’t hurt to call around and ask though

Typically you have an ob and they may have admitting privileges at 1 or more hospital.  If you like the ob but not the hospital, see if the ob has delivery privileges elsewhere.  If vice versa, find an ob who has rights at the same hospital.  Where I was going for my ob was “associated” with the hospital.  Hated the ob, love the hospital.  I found a new ob who delivers at that hospital as well and have my first appointment with the new ob this Monday—hopefully this one works out better.  I’m 28.2 right now.

I agree with the other two comments. If you want to switch you better start making some phone calls. 
You can always show up at any hospital you want when you’re in labor and if you’re truly in labor they can’t turn you away, but do you really want to deliver at a hospital that knows nothing about you with a doctor you don’t know from Adam?!

I'm thinking about this as well. There's no guarantee that my doctor will deliver and I don't trust the others. Around 37 weeks I will start asking for copies of my medical records when I go to the appointment and register with the hospital I want.
