16 month updates?!

I don’t like to compare baby to baby but I thought it would be fun to hear what everyone’s LOs are up to? It’d be good to know what to work on with them too

She talks A LOT. Our doctor and our sitters always comment on how she is advanced with her speech and I'm so glad. She's even starting to put words together like "Read, Please" or "Mama couch Please" when she wants to come up with me. The please thing is great too, she's learning early she has to ask politely. 
We actually got her a potty of her own and she's enjoying going "peepee" which is really just her sitting on it fully clothed saying peepee repeatedly haha. She's getting the concept a little bit and she insists on accompanying me to the bathroom. Fingers crossed she gets it early.
She's really just on par with everything else. I'm just glad she's hitting the milestones, honestly but super happy about her speech :)

Wow these babies are amazing!! My LG says about 20+ partial words including animal sounds and surprises us with more everyday. She waves, gives hugs & kisses, does splits, claps, sings, and loves to dance allllll day!! She loves to play chase and climb on boxes... loves to sit on random things like the boxes, pillows, the fridge ledge, whatever she can sit on. She loves to read whether it’s with us or to herself. She’s really into identifying the objects in the books and can retrieve books by title from the bookcase 😊 she’s a bit obsessed with books for sure.

My daughter hasn't done too many new things in the past month or two, except saying more words. I have found that she normally goes through a "dry spell" of sorts right before a huge burst of new things. 
She says 30-40 words and learns about 2-3 new ones each week. She says several 2-word sentences. She signs when she is hungry or thirsty. If she is wanting one of her favorites, she will sign what she wants to eat (I like that I don't always have to guess). She has also started signing when she is ready for her nap, which is actually 30 minutes earlier than what I was doing- and now she goes down easier. 
When asked "give mommy a ____ ball/block" she correctly does blue, green, red, yellow, pink, purple and orange (this started just before Christmas, so not super "new," but she is much better at giving me the correct color more frequently-she is correct almost all of the time with blue, red and green. The others she is correct about 50-70% of the time depending on which color). She loves to go around the house and point out all the blue and purple items and say "blue/purple." 
When I start counting and say "one," she will say "two, three."
She has been kicking her play soccer ball around the house since early November, my husbands entire family are huge soccer fans, so they all comment how she is born to play soccer 😄. She has been twirling around dancing and doing other dancing moves since early December. She has been running, walking backward and squatting since November as well.
She recently started getting on her tippy toes to reach things. We take her to the local playground, and she climbs the ladder by herself and climbs this other lattice thing by herself, will post a picture because I don't know how to describe it. 
Since December, she has been able to walk up and down the stairs up by herself (while holding onto wall or rail). 
She also learned how to unlock and lock doors in early November, so that has been fun. She has been pushing stuff up to the doors to climb on and reach the doorknob (and anything else she wants to get to but is out of her reach) since eight months, but I took comfort that I could just lock the doors that lead to outside. Now, we had to put the chain bolt things on the top and doorknob covers. 
She LOVES her kitchen that she got for Christmas and pretends to cook, wash dishes and stuff like that. She loves feeding her baby doll and burping it. She likes grabbing my phone and pretending to talk to people. She is obsessed with washing/drying her hands.   
She knows all of her body parts 100% correctly (She started identifying body parts correctly in September and says a few of them by name) and knows about 10 animal sounds. We went to a petting zoo a few months ago, and she walked in, and immediate went to the sheep and started saying "ba ba ba" and went to the cow and said "moo moo." I was shocked, because she had only seen pictures in the book, and I didn't even tell her that it was a sheep/cow. She was confused by the chickens because they didn't sound like the "cluck cluck" that I had been teaching her 😄
She understands pretty much everything that I ask of her or tell her, and does what I ask for the most part. Ex- hold my hand, close the drawer/door, turn the light on/off, sit/lay down, stand up- I can't think of a correct example that she didn't know what I was asking/saying. 
She correctly points out several things in books or around us (has done this for several months, so I guess not "new")
She refers to herself by her name and nicknames. 
She has started to grab her shoes, go to our front door and say "Go bye bye" when she is wanting to go to the park. 
She uses a cup, fork and spoon pretty good by herself; sometimes she needs help depending on shape/consistency (Like for spaghetti noodles, she can't twist them around the fork, but if we use bowtie noodles she does it herself with a fork). Very recently she has started to be able to screw and unscrew bottle caps. Although, she doesn't screw them on very tight, so they leak if I don't go behind her and tighten them. 
She loves playing with her puzzles and can do an eight piece large peg puzzles almost perfectly, small peg puzzles are a bit more challenging for her right now, and non-peg puzzles are very challenging (I am sure that the few times she for them in was by luck, not skill), but she still attempts. 
She insists on buckling herself in her car seat, with me holding the crotch strap buckle for her. She actually screamed at me earlier today because we were in a hurry and I forgot that she *must* do it 🙄. 
She signs "please" and "thank you" at appropriate times. A few weeks ago she bit me accidentally while nursing and I unintentionally screamed (because it flippin' hurts) and she signed "sorry" and gave me a big long hug. I'm not sure if this is the beginning of developing empathy?
I know there is a huge developmental burst coming up around 18 months and I am excited to see what she learns during it!!

Almost fully potty trained, says more words than I can list, but my fav is yo-yo (yogurt), naps once a day for 1.5 hours (reminded me today it was dodo time), sleeps 6pm-6am, knows ALL of his body parts, can differentiate between mine and yours, loves walking backwards. Eats with spoon and fork. No bottles, just sippys and reg cups. Will tell you what he wants if offered diff food/snacks. 
Stops dead in his tracks when a plane goes over our house and looks up and says plane. It’s hilarious. 
We use potty time as learning time and it’s been amazing. We have a little bin in the bathroom with toys and cue cards etc. He’s a clever kid for sure. Kids pick up things much quicker than I’d imagined.

Still no words! He said mama dadda but hasn’t said it in a while. He can say all done not very clearly. He can point to his eyes nose and mouth only sometimes. Knows what rub your belly is and upstairs and bath and a lot of other things So I know hes understanding a lot. He plays pretty well independently, mostly just loves to run around. Likes the wiggles and to kinda dance. Starting to have some tantrums, but I can ignore him and he’ll stop pretty quick. Grocery shopping is getting harder! He wants out of the cart now which isn’t really possible lol, I’ve already been thinking about a harness for the zoo this summer because he just loves to run!!

My son isn’t talking too much, not of much concern bc he does a lot of “babblin”. Full on conversations that only he understands. 😂
Plays on his own with toys, pushes cars, puts them in tracks, flies he plane in the air with his hands, loves songs, touches his knees and toes when we sing head and shoulders. We play hide and seek. He hides in the same spot all the time and it’s so damn cute when I find him.
Goes to the cabinet when he wants a snack. Eats with a fork successfully (slowly), dips his spoon into yogurt to eat it.
Does swimming lessons once a week. Goes under, kicks his feet and reaches with his arms (obviously when I hold him). Jumps in holdin hands.
Give hugs and kisses when asked (most of the time). Just this week he started going to his crib when he’s tired 🙌🏼🙌🏼.
Listens very well. If I ask to bring me something or pick something up he will. 
Screams when I say no to
Things he wants to do. (Playing with the light switch, outlets etc...).
