IUD strings?

Who has the IUD? My doctor told me after the first six months, I do NOT have to check the strings anymore? Is this right?

I've had mine 5 years, I get it removed Tuesday. I never checked either.

I'd stick to checking monthly. that's how I noticed my threads were getting longer and shortly after my iud ended up expelling.

I have had my IUD for about 3 years.  I check the strings occasionally.  Not too long ago it moved to a different spot, I can feel it now and the strings are a bit shorter than usual.  I would check occasionally.  If the strings disappear it may have moved to a spot where it is less effective.

I never checked for mine and I had it almost 2 years 😳 it stayed in place and everything was fine
