(Re)Introducing the bottle to EBF baby!?
My daughter, Remi, is two months today (DOB 12.19.17) and will be nine weeks tomorrow. I am headed back to work on March 12th and she will be attending daycare and will need to use a bottle during the day. She has only been fed by breast as of now and I have pumped a supply of milk that I have frozen to use when I go back to work. We are having trouble re-introducing a bottle. And I say “re” introduce because Remi took one four times a week from my husband with no issues at all when she was four and five weeks. At the start of her being six weeks and for the full seventh week we hit a tough spell as she wasn’t sleeping and wanted to nurse 24/7. I’m guessing she was having a growth spurt and that’s what she needed to do, so we slacked on offering bottle to her during that time. On Valentine’s Day last week (Remi was 8 weeks and 1 day), my husband offered her a bottle and she wouldn’t take it. We have offered them to her a couple times a day each day since then and have had no luck. He’s tried, I’ve tried. She just kind of play around with the nipples in her mouth, won’t suck on them and gets mad after a few minutes. She doesn’t take a pacifier. I have tried five different kinds of bottles including, Avent (the first bottle we ever used and had success with during weeks four and five), Tommee Tippee, Nuk Naturals, MAM and Dr. Browns. I’ve also tried the bottles and nipples from my Spectra breast pump. We have had no luck. I am stating to panic as I only have 20 days left til I go back to work. Does anyone have any advice for me!? 😕
