GERD? Does anyone else have it?

I was just diagnosed with GERD at the ER today and was curious what other peoples' symptoms are. I went in today with pain in my chest, shortness of breath, and a numb left arm. I was given a bunch of tests including a CT scan just in case I had a blood clot and nothing was found. I was given an OTC antacid to take but I can't begin it until tomorrow when my pharmacy is opening. As for now, my left arm still hurts and have some pain breathing.

Yes, had it before pregnancy as well. Now that I am pregnant I have stopped eating all things I know make it worse like tomatoes, hot sauces, spicy foods, coffee, etc. I don't eat large meals either. This seems to be keeping it at bay. Hope you feel better soon!

I was diagnosed with GERD before pregnancy and that combined with anxiety issues caused feelings like I was having a heart attack. Everyone responds to different meds differently but I've been on ranitidine (generic for Zantac) for over a year now and it's worked great. Along with being on a lower dose of a generic of Celexa for anxiety. Pregnancy has caused my GERD to constantly be burning at my throat and causing nauseous but doubling my dose seems to help a lot.

It's pretty common especially in pregnancy. Can you get any antacids from a store other than the pharmacy? You can usually get thungs like quickeze, mylanta or gavascon thise tyoes of antacids from the supermarket which will provide temporary relief from the pain until u can start on the stronger meds
