Did your placenta move up?...

Question

So I'm 21w 3d pregnant, and at my check up today my Dr said at my 20 week ultrasound that my placenta was too low and covering my cervix, and that  if it doesn't move away or up throughout the rest if my pregnancy that I'd have to have a c-section. I'm just wonder how many of you ladies have had this issue and how many of you have had to have a c-section! I have a follow up ultrasound at 28 weeks! thanks in advance!:)

Labor and delivery nurse here.  It really depends on where the placenta is located.  If you have an anterior (on the front of the uterus) and it's only partial or low lying it will move up as you uterus grows.  If you have a complete previa they don't tend to move.  I had a low lying placenta with my 5th, it was anterior and did move up.  They will do a follow up ultrasound to check around 32 weeks was when they redid mine.  If you have a previa or low lying placenta you should also avoid anything in the vagina, don't stand too long, or walk around too much.  Those all increase your risk of bleeding.

Mine has moved a little bit. Still partially covering the cervix. I have another scan next week at 36 weeks to see what the plan is (vaginal birth or cesarean birth). Fingers crossed!

mine moved from 12 weeks where it was quite low until 20weeks when it was higher. as the uterus stretches it does also make the placenta move so it's good they're checking again!
