Dating a guy 5 years older than me

So we are not literally dating I just meant to grab your attention.

I really like this guy (i think;perhaps) i met him through my mom i know it’s weird but I really like him and he used to tease my mom all the time about liking me and wanting to date me and asking her about me. We recently started talking (texting i mean) and I don’t know he was great funny he opened up a little to me he gave me this so called hints that he actually do likes me. The thing is I really feel insecure because obviously the age difference could mean a lot to some people and he sometimes doesn’t show importance to it but there are other times he does he confuses me. What should I do please help me please should I keep talking to him or do you think he just doesn’t want anything to do with me..😕 i’m 17 btw he is 22
