Metformin Causing Anxiety?

Question

I’ve been taking Metformin daily for about six months. Three months ago, my gyn increased the dose to twice daily. I’ve had extreme anxiety + panic attacks that have been worsening over the last three months. I’ve changed my lifestyle quite a bit (diet, exercise, meditation, etc) to try to combat the anxiety and nothing has worked.  Could it be the Metformin?

I’ve been on metformin for over a year (1500mg a day) and my only symptom has been digestive discomfort, apart from loss of appetite at the start.
I haven’t heard of anxiety being a side effect but it could be possible. 
Have you done any reflection on whether something in life has caused anxiety? Are you perhaps worried about PCOS or pregnancy? 
If your dietary changes and exercise aren’t helping perhaps see a GP for advice, or maybe even referral to a therapist.

I'm having exactly the same at the moment, well don't from sticking with it for so long, I've stopped taking it today, the anixety and panic attach was too much for me 🙁
