Does having a male gyno/OB make you uncomfortable?

A few of my friends have recommended a male OB because I’m planning to leave my current OB soon. I’m honestly just uncomfortable with having a male and prefer having a female 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m being judged hardcore and am wondering if it’s just me lol

I am uncomfortable with a male OB or a male delivering my baby and I don't think it is something to be judged for.

I'm more comfertable with a male. I found my male obgyn was more attentive and laid back. my female obgyn is uptight and just wants to get me out of there. but, I've only had two that I've stuck with for a while.

I was uncomfortable with it until I had a male OBGYN. He has been way more personable, attentive, and gentle than any female I’ve ever had, and I wish I didn’t limit myself for so long to only females.

I am actually uncomfortable with a female obgyn. I’ve always had more guy friends than girl friends so I’m just more comfortable with guys in general. Plus I want someone who gets to the point. No extra fluff or comfort. That tends to be more of a guy quality.

I’m not exactly uncomfortable with it but would you go to a hair dresser with a buzz cut? A tattoo artist with no tattoos? A vet that has no animals? Seems like they can only understand on a text book level

I had male since I started seeing one, until I got with my man, I had my first child with this OB and I think my man felt some type of way, so he pretty much made me get a female, I did and had 2 other children and have been seeing her ever since then, I actually do feel a bit more comfortable with her only because she can relate being a female!!! Otherwise it doesn’t bother me one bit, I did it for him to feel better!!

I thought I would be. There were 6 doctors in my practice and by the time I rotated through them all, the two men ended up being my favorites. It ended up being a male doctor on call when I went into labor so he delivered my baby.

My practice has several OBs and midwives. My first appointment, with the vaginal exam and dating scan by vaginal ultrasound, was with a man. Interestingly enough as well, he was the man who delivered my sister and me and was my moms regular doctor.

I really didn't like the idea of having a man but I didn't get to pick mine - there is a huge doctor shortage in my province and so you just get assigned as needed. In my town there are 6 female OBs and 1 male so I thought for sure I would get a lady (jinxed myself, lol). I got the only man, but he has been absolutely fantastic and has made me very comfortable.

I was the same way, like super terrified and nervous, but went to my first appointment and he was amazing!! I had him for my first two kids and honestly he was the best Dr I have ever had. He has a nurse in there with him for all the exams, which made things less awkward believe it or not. We have since moved away and I was literally crying about missing him yesterday because my new FEMALE OB doesnt listen to me and I really dont like her. I will never have another female OB again for sure!
