Is this a red flag?

My boyfriend of 7 months and I were kind of arguing yesterday night, but at one point he pinned me to the bed while crying and speaking loudly to me. I politely kept saying to please let me go, as he was scaring me, but it was a long time until he actually did.

In the end, he said he didn't meant to hurt me(as my shoulder did a cracking sound while he was doing that, he didn't break it, it's like a cracking your knuckles sort of thing), he just wanted to hold me.

Is this a red flag for a future abusive partner or am I just overreacting?
