when is enough enough?

my husband and I have been trying to conceive for over two years not and nothing at all.   tried the clomid, did four IUI with Gonal F and Ovidrel.   A few times I was told to skip the next cycle as my ovaries were enlarged and I had left over follicles.

I decided in May I was going to take a break but as some of you already know...it's all you think about.   needless to say im waiting for Aunt Flo to show so I can start yet another IUI cycle.

how do people say ok this isn't going to work and stop it??  it's on my mind constantly!  for two years this has been my life :(

I'm preparing to give up after 3 years ttc, after my 3rd iui with clomid. I have been a mess for a couple of years now, its having a huge effect on my marriage, friendshups, and even work as I' m emotional and angry, jealous and depressed way too much to be healthy. I feel like ttc gas taken over my life and I've lost the person I used to be before all of this stress. We've decided that we couldn' t handle the potential for failure with ivf so we are going to stop actively ttc and move forward with adoption. I think to stop ttc  is going be a very personal issue for any couple and I know personally I'll likley hold on to a measly shred of hope that we still might get lucky without actively (obsessively) trying.

Totally understand. I tried one IUI but when it failed we decided to move forward with ivf because I didn't want to risk spending the $ on multiple rounds of IUI and possibly having no success. Insurance doesn't cover anything for us either, but we are willing to do whatever it takes to make this work. I'm starting the process for my first attempt at IVF on Friday. At this point I don't know when enough will be enough for us, because we still have an option. I don't know how many times I'll be willing to attempt IVF though. Best of luck in whatever you choose!
