Family in the room

My husband doesn't want to have anyone but is and my mom in the room, but I feel like everyone should be there. When I had my first daughter (not his biological daughter) I had my whole immediate family in the room. And it was wonderful for the support and what not. But he doesn't feel the same and it breaks my heart! What do you all think? Family in the room or no, why and why not, would you change it if you could?
