How long did you wait before talking to a doctor about trouble conceiving?

I’m 30, but went to a dr after 6 months of TTC. The author of Take Charge of Your Fertility recommends that you get checked out after 3-4 months of actively checking ovulation and BDing without a pregnancy.
I’m glad I didn’t wait the recommended 12 months. I requested an HSG, which shows I have 2 blockages in/around my left tube. Trying for another 6 months would’ve driven me crazy!

The general rule is if you are under 35, see your doctor after one year. Over 35 and see your doctor after 6 months.

I called today and made an appointment we have been ttc for 8 months

Hubby and I tried for 8 months and nothing. Talked to my doctor about it, it took me 2 months to get pregnant with our son. She ordered an HSG and blood work. Blood work was normal but HSG showed that both tubes are blocked. So now I have an appt April 26th to see a RE about options to open my tubes. My husband and I are desperate to add to our family!

Most doctors say they will see  you if you've been trying 12 months or longer with no luck.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2007, so when I told my GYN that my husband and I had a date set to try to start, she immediately put me on a prep plan with prenatal vitamins and some blood work. We talked about the need to change some meds when we started trying, and then when the IUD removal appointment came she was all excited for us.

How long?!?!
