Single moms... Will the baby have its dads last name?

I regret giving my first daughter her bio-dad's last name. We weren't together & he never took things seriously, it's been close to 2 years since he has even seen her. 
Every situation is different & sometimes I feel it's a good thing but I really wish I hadn't.

Before I decide if my little girl will have my last name or the father's I am talking with a lawyer. Ideally I would love for her to have my last name but if it's best and easier for her to have his then so be it.
