Funeral Rant

emma

So today I was driving back to my house, and I see several cops flashing their lights signaling a funeral procession.

Out of respect, I pulled the truck to the side of the road, stopped, and turned on my hazard lights. Everyone else on the road did the same - except for this lady.

She had just left the bank, was in the parking lot on my right, and saw everyone was stopped. So she started trying to cross 3 lanes of traffic and squish in between the cars in the funeral procession!

So I pulled the truck in front of her, and another car pulled in beside her to block her in until the funeral procession had passed.

She CLEARLY saw that everyone else was stopped, and the cops were flashing their lights - but obviously, people mourning the death of a loved one doesn't deserve respect for the 30 seconds she would have had to wait.

Excuse me?????

How would yall react? Do you think that what she did was disrespectful??

How do you know what she saw? I only ask because I accidentally interrupted a funeral procession when I was about 16. It was dark, I had a green light, I was just crossing the intersection to get food with my little sister (I was baby sitting). I didn't realize what was going on until it was way too late. I felt so awful. Maybe she didn't realize?

If you didn't do it on purpose, no harm no foul.

Because I watched her stare at the cops and the funeral car. I understand accidentally interrupting one, sometimes funeral processions don't look any different from regular traffic. But I live in a small town, and the funeral processions around here have a ton of cops, and everyone stops. the lady knew good and well what she was doing.

That is a dick move, I agree with this, but she may have just not been paying attention. I ended up in one once on complete accident. The precession was going in a "z" pattern -entering one main road, going up the street a block, then turning on another street. Well, I just turned on the main road when the leading cruiser was parallel with me, hidden from my sight behind the other cars. This was a road next to the train tracks, so I thought nothing about the number of people, and they usually lead the precessions on the old highway, not back roads. NO ONE had their friggin' hazards on!! That's what really pisses me off! I felt like a asshole. Anyway, so maybe she was just on her phone or some crap. Also, for anyone who doesn't know, if you're IN or LETTING a precession pass, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO KEEP YOUR HAZARDS ON! Ugh!

It's cool, I think it's funny too except I'm sure I further upset those people. I've never left like a bigger douche lol. all you can do is laugh, right?

Don't hate me...I laughed a lil bit at this because I could totally picture this happening to me. You shouldn't have felt like an asshole. You didn't do it intentionally!

Smh I really can't understand what happened between the 90's and now . People have really change, it's like respect ,honestly and wisdom don't exist anymore. You did the right thing better then me cause I would've blocked her in got out and passed her a bible and told her find the Lord you heartless witch.

That bothers me. Very much. That, and when people don't pull over for fire trucks, ambulances, cops (all when they have their lights on of course) my dad is a firefighter in our town, so I grew up with 'always make sure you pull over for funerals or when sirens and lights are going, no matter how inconvenient it is.'

I would be annoyed. This happened to me in a way, I got cut off of the precession, got stuck behind a light, and was in an area I didn't know. I never made it to the cemetary

Yes, definitely. Not to long ago a cop was killed while doing traffic duty for a funeral. Some people have no regards for life or death when they're in their car getting to get somewhere.
