When to take a pregnancy test

Ok everyone so I’m confused about when to take a pregnancy test. I know websites and pregnancy test packages say different things like one week after your missed period, etc. what does it mean when they say you can test 6 days before your missed period? How would you do that if you don’t know if you’re going to miss your period? Sorry, I’m just really confused on that!

They mean before your period is due. But most women don't have high enough hormone levels to get a positive before they miss a period anyway, so it's just better to wait

I’d just go by the general rule of wait until after your expected period hasn’t showed up.. like 2-3 days after? You should get an answer by then. That’s what I did with my second pregnancy
