Cloth diapers???

Question

For you moms who have done this and for those who plan on it, to those who don't riddle me this...:

I've never really understood or invested the time into understanding cloth diapering. It seems a bit of a hassle to me. Why do you or plan to cloth diaper?
If you've done both what are the pros and con's of each?
And has anyone actually estimated how much money they saved using cloth diapers?

1. Better for babies skin

3. After initial costs, saves big money.

On average, you will spend 2000-2500 dollars over your child's diaper years on disposable diapers.

A stash of cloth diapers that allows you to wash every 2 days will run you anywhere from 300-700 dollars depending on the style of diapers you purchase and whether or not you buy new or used. If you add in cost of water usage for laundering you are looking at about another $150-200 over 2 years. Therefore:

Disposables for 2 years = $2500
Cloth for 2 years = max $900

***remember you also get to reuse your cloth diapers with subsequent children, so then you only count cost of water usage.

I didn't cloth with my first even though I wanted too. I just didn't take the time to do the research. With this baby, we plan to cloth diaper. It's much cheaper in the long run, you can resuse then for other children you have. If you don't end up having anymore kids, you can always sell them. I suggest doing lots of research before getting started to give yourself an idea of you need to know.
