This is absolutely garbage. For real. The article is so purely written. I have not seen this how but i have a pretty deep insight on China and how this system works.
Customers receive a score based on a variety of factors based on social media interactions and purchases carried out on Alibaba Group websites or paid for using its affiliate Ant Financial's Alipay mobile wallet. The rewards of having a high score include easier access to loans from Ant Financial and having a more trustworthy profile on e-commerce sites within the Alibaba Group. 
This is the official explanation. This is connected to a having a payment platform called Alipay, if you pay through it, you get bonuses which is called zhima credit. Nothing else. You can chose to pay always cash and not care and you wont get it. Having a lower score doesnt make you a lower class citizen nor it can destroy your life. They give you some bonuses like a small discount which is insignificant or when you play a game they give you some bonuses. It is not nearly as important as they play it out to be. Also this is a way to encourage people to use this platform because it is safer, rather than having to carry hundreds of yuan.

This is my zhima and guess what, i didnt get a luxury apartment or the newest BMW.

My work functions this way; the higher your stats, the higher your wages, the better schedule is yours, the more job security you have. I am in the top 10% in my line of business (#11 out of over 500 employees). I got one too many DSATS (dissatisfied customers who leave a bad survey) one month and literally was told I had 6 weeks to get my numbers higher or I would be given a write up. There are excellent people who don’t last long due to customers not liking them because they couldn’t give them what they wanted.

It’s already like this. I had to deal with it from an ex friend with 5,000 followers and an influence in our town. 
She didn’t care to stop the people commenting saying they were once MARRIED to me, etc etc etc... she knows they were lying, but she didn’t care to stop it because she has a vendetta against me. She allowed people to post my address, pictures of my car with my license plate showing, etc. 
All on her BUSINESS page 🙄. Everyone kissed her ass with wild stories about me because they thought they could get something free out of her. So many people got angry at me, she told people “go rape this whore” and people posted my address, which led to people screaming at my house late at night and throwing trash in my yard. 
She gathered in ass kissing and pity points, while my “rating” fell hard. All because ~it’s on Facebook so it must be true~. People then started to leave her business bullshit 5 star reviews “because shes so nice”.
Yeah.... a woman who posts “go rape this whore” and someone’s address and allowed the comments to get so frivolous and vicious is SO NICE.    🤦🏼‍♀️
We also do this rating with a credit system.

I don’t see how it’s too much different then the systems we have in America already. One being your class. Whether you’re low, middle or high class your lifestyle is completely different. If you make choices in life that move you into a different class then your life changes including your house and type of car you can have. Same thing with credit scores in America. If you have a low credit score you have to pay high deposits and you’ll end up paying more for the same item that someone with a high credit score pays less for and didn’t have to provide a deposit. Both of which are determined by the choices that you make.
