Honestly, there’s no “good” age. From the time I was in high school, I always said the very latest I wanted to start having kids was by 27. I figured 27 was enough time to find a husband, get married, get my life together. My mom had me right before she turned 24, and I turned out alright. But I wanted to be sure I was ready.
I got married when I was 22. By 25, I was divorced. My ex was not mentally stable, and we were never able to become financially sound. We did not have children.  
 
I moved into an apartment by myself, and was miserable. I couldn’t even watch TV shows with children in them, because I would cry uncontrollably. Women in my office were pregnant, and I couldn’t even look at them. Even though there was nothing more I could have done to salvage my marriage, I believed I was a failure. My marriage failed, and I would never reach my “goal” of having children.
I met my soulmate 18 months ago. I’ve never been more happy in my entire life. I still get butterflies in my stomach when I catch his eye from across the room. He knows my soul. Every day we are working toward our future together. 
In exactly one month, I’ll be 27. Barring anything accidental, I will not have a child by 27. And I think writing this post is one of the first moments I have been able to say that without having a full on meltdown. I’m not “too old”. I did not fail. The time just isn’t here yet. 
Basically, I just want y’all to know that the time is never “good” or “right”, it’s just ahead of you.

Best for who? Best for me was exactly when I had him, 20, that is definitely NOT best for many ( if not most) people

There are so many factors- when you’re able to meet a supportive partner, if you want to achieve any life goals before having kids, when you’re financially stable- it will be different for everyone. Not to mention those that have fertility issues- it can take years to conceive and you don’t necessarily have a lot of control over this. I’m having my first at 33, I kind of wish I’d started a bit earlier (29-30) but life just happened! I definitely wasn’t ready in my early 20s but other people are.

Very individual question with no right ot wrong answer. I'm 36, having my first child in about a month. For me (for my life) this is the best age, because I did everything I wanted to and don't feel that I will miss out on anything anymore.

I was 25 when I had my first, I'll be 29 when this one is born. There is no best age to have a kid.
