Does it definitely mean something is wrong if you don't conceive within a year?

Medically speaking, a couple is infertile if they try for 12 months with no success.

Get evaluated. Could be something simple!

If you are over 35, you shouldn't wait that long, more like 6 months.

It took my sister and her husband 12 years to concieve the first one, now they have 2happy healthy boys! One is 3 and the other just turned 1.

I'm in your same boat! We are on month 6. I have irregular cycles too and was negative for pcos. It's frustrating when it doesn't happen and you don't feel like you have a chance every month bc of irregular cycles. Stay strong! I was on birth control for 6 years so I'm hoping it works it way out of my system soon!

It its taken longer, or even if it's been less time than that, it never hurts to have a check up at the OBGYN.

Im gonna vote no. Because me and my fiance were TTC 12 months and concieved on our 13th month. I do have pcos but I concieved naturally. It doesnt mean you're basically out of luck so keep trying!
