Clomid Success Story

Natalie

For anybody out there that is struggling with infertility, I know what it’s like. I have PCOS, and have always struggled with irregular cycles when not taking birth control. Last September of 2017, my husband and I decided to see an OB/GYN, because I had not had a period in over 3 months. We went in and she wanted me to start on Provera 10mg for 10 days, and just 2 days after being done with the Provera, I got my period. I was to the take Clomid 50mg days 3-7. On day 21, I had a Progesterone lab, and also thyroid labs for my endocrinologist. The progesterone came back at a 2, and my thyroid labs came back abnormal. So, my OB/GYN did not want me to continue with any fertility medications until my thyroid labs came back normal. This was around the middle of October that all of this occurred. Then in November, I unexpectedly got my period. I ended up having my period for over a month straight! I was given Provera to try and stop it, as well as Lysteda. Finally, after two rounds of taking Lysteda, my period stopped. I decided to wait a while before starting Provera again to induce another period. Then in January, I was given Provera 10mg for 10 days, and started my period on 01/20/18. I was again given Clomid 50mg days 3-7. My OB/GYN wanted me to try the Clomid 50mg again, because of the abnormal thyroid labs, and she thought that maybe my ovulation was affected by that. I then had 21 day labs on 02/09/18 and the result for my progesterone was 0.8. I was devastated, because I felt like I was going backwards. My OB/GYN said that for my next cycle, I would be trying the Clomid 100mg days 3-7. She wanted me to wait until day 40, and if I still hadn’t gotten my period, then I would start Provera again. Because my husband was going to be out of town for a month, I asked if I could start the Provera sooner, and she said I could start it if I hadn’t gotten a period by day 32. Day 32 came, and on day 33, I started Provera. I didn’t even take the full 10 days of Provera, and my period came (I believe I took 8 days worth). Cycle day 1 for me was 03/01/18. So, I took Clomid 100mg days 3-7. I also tracked my ovulation (even though it is very hard with PCOS, because I would get faint lines on almost all my LH test strips, but this cycle). On this cycle, I started testing for ovulation on day 10, and on day 15, I got a completely positive ovulation test. In the morning of ovulation day, it was almost positive, so I checked it that evening, and it was darker than the control line. On day 21, I had a progesterone lab done, and it came back at 12.5. I had ovulated! I was elated! I decided to start testing at 10 DPO, because that was the day my husband had to leave for a month, and I wanted to see if I could get a positive pregnancy test while he was here. So I tested with my FMU, and there was an ever so slightly faint line, and my husband could hardly see it. It was there though, so I thought, we’re pregnant! I wanted to confirm it though, because I was nervous I was just seeing something that I wanted to be there (I used the First Response 6 days sooner tests). On 11 DPO, the line came back even darker, but the Clearblue digital test that I took came back negative. I only had one more First Response left, and 5 Clearblue digital left. So on 12 DPO, with my FMU, I took the First Response and Clearblue, and both came back completely positive. I am very early on in my pregnancy, and I know that there is always a chance for miscarriage, but I wanted to share my story. I know a lot of women go through similar or worse things, and it was comforting for me to read people’s stories. I hope this helps someone out there, and good luck to everyone.
