When to start maternity leave?

Hannah

We are due with di/di twins in August. My official due date is August 25th (at 40 weeks). I plan on having another home birth so I won't be induced but can bet on them coming earlier than 40 weeks.

My midwife has delivered 20 sets of twins (all Di/Di) with no hospital transfers so that's not in question, but she has stated that most of her twin mama's went into labor naturally at about 38weeks.

I'm taking a total of 12 weeks off but don't feel that I'll be able to work up until the babies are born. I know that I should rest before the babies arrive but would also like to use as many weeks with them in my arms rather than my belly.

What's a good estimate to tell work when I'll start maternity leave?

Around 35/36 weeks? Is this realistic?

*I worked up until my due date with my son. I was a server so I was constantly on the go.

** I'm now a dental hygienist so it's still a pretty physically demanding job.
