Baby ready to wean?

Question

My 4 month old is starting to watch every bite we take of food, can sit up straight when I hold her, should I try her on a little bit of baby rice to see how she likes it or hold off a bit longer? I personally think she might be ready but im really not sure so id just like to get some other people's opinions. :)

rice cereal actually has no nutritional value so I would stay away from that and try to wait until at least 6 months to introduce any foods. when you do wait 3 to 7 days in between new foods so you can watch for allergic reactions.

Don’t do it until you’ve got a doctors approval. Interest in food doesn’t equate to readiness for food. 
Additionally, while some doctors might tell you that you Can start solids at four months - the research shows there is no benefit, and in fact only risks to starting foods before six months. Most of the main health organizations recommend waiting until six months.

Food under one is just for fun. Bmilk/formula is still primary source of nutrition and calories.

Babies have an interest in what their parents do long before they are ready for any solids. We did purees and some BLW.  We did not begin until after speaking with our ped. Id say it was after 6 months.

My sons ped had us start baby food at 4months old. He loved it and did great. Every baby is different some are ready before and some are ready later than others. It also depends on what you are comfortable with trying.

My son can sit up on his own and watches us eat also, he’s 4 months but we’re not introducing foods until 6 months, there are A LOT of studies shown starting foods early can cause allergies later in life and they need the nutrition from breast milk/formula babies dont need solids

wait a while, she's not ready to wean, but at her next appountment, bring up readiness for solids to your ped

I can't speak from experience since I'm currently expecting, but I have a cousin who just had her 4th. He's 6 weeks old and he's already on rice cereal. Pretty sure her other babies started early as well. It depends on you and what your baby can handle. I'll probably just do whatever my pediatrician recommends since I'm a FTM, but she's a pro and all of her children are super healthy. It didn't hurt them at all.
