Frustrating preterm labor story! *UPDATED*
This is my third pregnancy and I’ve never had preterm labor before. My first was a week late and my second was a week early.
Anyways yesterday I felt fine all day, had dinner (Taco Bell 🤦🏼♀️) and started having “uncomfortable” contractions every 10 minutes. After a half hour they started to move to five minutes and then to four. Once they hit four I could barely move and knew I needed to do something.
We went in and immediately they confirmed I was in fact having contractions. They thought maybe kidney stones but U/S looked good. I got medication to stop my contractions and a shot of betamethasone if he was born (worst shot of my life!). I was checked but not dilated. I received a shot of fentanyl which did NOT help and a bag of fluid. My labs looked good.
They gave me some morphine to try to help me sleep but I just couldn’t. At 3am I was checked and I was 2-3cm dilated at that point. That morning I received more medicine to stop my contractions and it finally slowed down.
For some reason they also gave me oxycodone. Mind you I haven’t eaten and I’m a 140lb girl. WORST IDEA EVER! I should have spoke up. I ended up almost passing out from a mix of low BP and an anxiety attack. I hadn’t slept in 24 hours.
The doctor was however amazing and very glad I came in. She left and the doc that came on basically said he didn’t believe I was at a 2 but wasn’t gonna check me since my contractions stopped. He also did NOT think I needed time off of work (I’m a CNA..seriously?)
I’m only 34 weeks, due May 13th and I’m hoping little man will stay in for a while!
Prayers or stories would be great! 🙌🏼
*Update - I was going to work today but after being stupid and lifting and vacuuming I started feeling pressure again. I pushed for a doctors note and I am now off and will follow up with my doctor Friday.
