Question about getting your medical records

So I’m going to another fertility doctor for a second opinion/guidance. I called my current fertility doctor and was told i need to fill out a form, fax It to them, they contact the medical records department and then the information will be sent. I’m so confused why I can’t just go there, the office prints them out and I pick them up?😂 is this the normal process? I’m a current patient so it’s not like i haven’t been there in a long time. When I got my chart from my gyno I picked it right up at the office.
